Nashville TN: (2.20.09) Rural Rhythm Records is honored to announce Cody Shuler & Pine Mountain Railroad’s album, Pickin’, Praisin’ & Singin’ - Hymns from the Mountain has received a DOVE® Nomination by the Gospel Music Association for BLUEGRASS ALBUM OF THE YEAR. The 40th Annual GMA Dove Awards will be held on April 23, 2009 in Nashville, TN where the winners will be announced.
“We are so happy for Cody Shuler and the rest of Pine Mountain Railroad - Bill McBee, Jerry Cole, Matt Flake and Dale Perry to be receiving this important DOVE nomination and to be recognized for their fine talents in the Gospel Music community. They certainly have taken our vision of creating a fresh approach to classic Hymns from the Mountains to a whole new and exciting level on Pickin', Praisin' & Singin’. We are especially excited about this nomination because Cody Shuler & Pine Mountain Railroad are currently in the studio working on their new Gospel Album coming this summer and it will be the first title on our new RURAL RHYTHM CHRISTIAN imprint dedicated to creating fine Christian music culled from America's Heartland," said Sam Passamano, President of Rural Rhythm.
Cody Shuler & Pine Mountain Railroad have received critical acclaim for their tremendous five-part harmonies and inspiring vocal talents, so it is no surprise that 5 separate tracks from this album garnered impressive chart success. “The Gospel Ship,” “I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy,” “Run On,” “Blood Bought My Freedom” and “My Eyes Shall Be On Canaan’s Land” have all appeared on various Single Charts with Pickin’, Praisin’ and Singin’ charting on numerous Album Charts as well.
The band includes the talents of: Cody Shuler (mandolin and vocals), Bill McBee (bass and vocals), Matt Flake (fiddle and vocals), Jerry Cole (guitar and vocals), and Dale Perry (banjo and vocals) who also engineered the project at his Lakeside Studios in Virginia.
“Cody Shuler and Pine Mountain Railroad are making some of the freshest, honest, and most creative music in bluegrass today. It’s no surprise to me that their latest album Pickin’, Praisin’ & Singin’ is doing so well. It’s an excellent combination of tradition, musicianship, and faith. These guys have done bluegrass proud,” said Kyle Cantrell host of SIRIUS/XM’s Bluegrass Junction radio show.
